What is Raw Hair?
Raw hair is hair in its purest form. It hasn’t been processed in any way, so no steam, no chemicals, and no dyes. Think authentic, untouched hair straight from the donor.
Each bundle comes from a single donor, meaning the hair came from one person. That’s why the texture stays consistent, and the cuticles remain intact and aligned.
Available Textures: Straight, Wavy, Curly
Why people love it: Once you try proper raw hair, you can tell the difference straight away. The best part is how long it lasts. With a trusted vendor and the right care, it can last well over five years. It holds a curl beautifully, can be dyed or bleached, and does everything you would want your hair to do.
Raw hair looks and feels like real, healthy hair because it is. It is soft, easy to style, and blends effortlessly. You can curl it, straighten it, or colour it and it still holds up install after install.
What Does Single Donor Hair Mean?
Single donor hair means the bundle was cut from one person’s head, not mixed with hair from multiple sources. Because it’s all from the same donor, the texture stays the same throughout the bundle, giving you a smoother, more natural finish and better longevity.
All of our raw bundles at NyromiHair are single donor, so you always know exactly what you’re getting.
What Does Cuticles Aligned Mean?
When hair cuticles are aligned, every strand is running in the same natural direction from root to tip. This helps prevent tangling and matting, keeping the hair soft, smooth, and easy to manage. It’s one of the key things that makes raw hair last so long.
What is Remy Hair?
Remy hair is human hair that still has the cuticles intact and aligned in the same direction. It’s usually lightly processed and can come from one or multiple donors. It’s good quality, but it’s not the same as raw hair. Raw hair is completely unprocessed, single donor, and the highest quality you can get.
What is Virgin Hair?
Virgin hair has had some processing, like steam or light chemical treatments, to achieve a uniform texture. It usually comes from multiple donors. All those “Brazilian” or “Peruvian” labels you see? Most of the time, that’s virgin hair.
Raw hair is on another level because it’s completely unprocessed and comes from a single donor.
What is Raw Virgin Hair?
Trick question. It doesn’t exist. Hair is either raw or virgin, never both.
Raw = unprocessed, single donor
Virgin = lightly processed, usually multiple donors
What’s Better, Raw or Virgin Hair?
It depends on what you want. Virgin hair is more affordable, comes in lots of textures, and is easier to maintain.
But if you’re talking pure quality, longevity, and a natural finish, raw hair wins every single time. It’s unprocessed, lasts for years, and gives that luxury look you can’t fake.
What Makes Raw Hair Different from Processed Hair?
Raw Hair: Completely unprocessed, cuticles intact, single donor. Strong, soft, full, and lasts over five years with proper care.
Processed Hair: Chemically treated, mixed from multiple donors, and more prone to tangling and shedding.
What Grade is Raw Hair?
There’s no official grading system for raw hair. Terms like “10A,” “12A,” or “15A” are just marketing.
Raw hair isn’t graded. It’s judged by quality, source, and whether it’s truly unprocessed and cuticle-aligned.
What is SEA Raw Hair?
SEA stands for Southeast Asian raw hair, usually sourced from places like Cambodia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. It’s known for being thick, full, and slightly coarser, making it perfect for fuller styles with natural movement.
How is Raw Indian Hair Collected?
Temple Donations: Donated during religious ceremonies. Temples collect, sort, and sell the hair, using the money for charity.
Direct Collection: Some women sell or donate their hair due to tradition, necessity, or personal choice.
Either way, the hair is ethically sourced, cleaned, and prepared carefully.
What is Raw Donor Hair?
Raw donor hair is cut directly from one person and left completely untouched by chemicals or heat. That’s why it’s so consistent, soft, and long-lasting.
How to Tell Raw Hair from Non-Raw Hair?
Raw hair has slight texture variations, a matte finish, and no chemical smell. It reacts like real hair to humidity and heat.
Non-raw hair is usually overly shiny, has a coating, and often smells like chemicals. Textures like deep wave or body wave are almost always steam-processed to look uniform.
How to Test Raw Hair?
Time always tells the truth. If it’s not raw, it won’t last.
Quick tests you can do:
- Burn test: Real hair smells like burnt protein. Fake hair melts.
- Tangle test: Raw hair glides through easily.
- Water test: If colour bleeds or water turns cloudy, it’s likely processed.
You can also co-wash it to remove any coatings and see the real texture.
Can Raw Hair Be Curly?
Yes, but naturally curly raw hair is rare. Most raw Indian hair donors have straight or wavy textures, although loose curls do exist.
Can Raw Hair Be Dyed?
Definitely. Because it’s unprocessed, raw hair takes colour beautifully. We always recommend letting a professional handle it to keep it healthy and long-lasting.
Can Raw Hair Be Bleached?
Yes. Our raw Indian hair can be lifted to a light blonde (613). Because it’s unprocessed, it lightens well without ruining the strands.
Note: Our jet black bundles can’t be bleached since they’ve already been dyed. If you plan to colour, start with our natural black bundles.
How Long Does Raw Indian Hair Last?
With the right care? Over five years. Raw hair is an investment that you can reinstall, style, and enjoy for years.
How Much is Raw Indian Hair?
It depends on the length, texture, and company, but raw hair is never cheap.
Expect to spend anywhere from $100 to $500 per bundle. Longer lengths and curly textures cost more because they’re rarer.
If you see “raw hair” being sold at virgin hair prices, it’s probably not the real thing.
Why is Raw Indian Hair So Expensive?
Raw Indian hair costs more because it is unmatched in quality and authenticity.
- Unprocessed hair from a single donor
- Ethically sourced and hand-prepared
- Rare and long-lasting
While the upfront cost is higher, the value speaks for itself. You can reinstall it, style it, and enjoy it for years, making it far more cost-effective in the long run than constantly replacing cheaper hair.
Why Invest in Raw Hair?
Because you’re tired of wasting money on hair that looks good for a few weeks, then sheds, tangles, and ends up in the bin.
Raw hair is a genuine upgrade. It’s pure, unprocessed, and free from coatings or artificial shine. You can bleach it, colour it, straighten it, and it still holds up beautifully for years.
It’s luxury hair that ages well and stays versatile, making it the smartest long-term investment for anyone who values quality.
How Many Bundles Do I Need?
It depends on the look you’re going for.
- For most installs, 3 bundles is perfect.
- For lengths over 26 inches, 4 bundles or more will keep it full.

We’ve shared some of our favourite affordable and luxury options on the blog.
How Should I Comb Hair Extensions?
Start from the tips and work your way up using a wide-tooth comb or a Tangle Teezer. This prevents shedding and keeps the hair intact.

Always wrap your hair in a silk bonnet or scarf at night.
When showering, use a shower cap to avoid frizz. Avoid swimming with extensions to prevent chlorine damage.
Should I Wash My Hair Extensions Before Installing?
